The project for the new Tirana multimodal station aims to a complete renewal of the city suggested by the continued expansion in progress. The new center wants to become an interchange hub capable of connecting the urban area with the outlying areas of the city. The old railway line, that currently devides the city in two parts, will become a tramway, compatibly with the previsions of the Greater Tirana Urban Structure Plan. The stretch of the existing railway, that connects the project area at the city center, is transformed into an urban park, a green corridor which aims to stich up the two parts of the city so far disconnected.
